Calling all acoustic musicians, singers, performers and entertainers – the Burdekin Shire Youth Council wants to see you sign up for Burdekin Unplugged.
Burdekin Shire Youth Mayor Lexi Haselton said the Youth Council wanted expressions of interest from those wanting to take part in the event.
“Last year’s event was a huge success and we hope that this year will be bigger and better,” she said.
“The event is open to local talent aged between 12 and 25 and is about getting back to raw talent and raw sound.
“The aim of this event is to move away from traditional bands with big amps and big sounds and have a contest where entrants can be anything from a singer-guitarist to an a cappella group.
“We might see a singer accompanied by a keyboardist, or a couple of guitarists, or a solo vocalist.”
Miss Haselton said contestants could use microphones, but not amplifiers.
“There are only 12 spots available, so anyone who wants to take part should get in quick to secure their entry,” she said.
Expressions of interest need to lodged by August 31, 2012. Burdekin Unplugged will be held at a venue in Home Hill on Friday, September 21, 2012.
