Forum to give update on Burdekin industries

Burdekin residents will have the opportunity to hear the latest developments on a number of emerging industries at an upcoming forum.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said representatives from Evolution Mining – Mt Carlton Mine; KFSU; Blue Ribbon Seeds and the Austcane ethanol plant would provide the latest information on their projects at the Burdekin Industry/Business Update.

“This forum will provide attendees the latest information on what is happening with these projects,” Cr McLaughlin said.

“It will also enable local businesses the opportunity to network with these new industries.”

Cr McLaughlin said there had been a lot of interest from the region in the Mt Carlton Project and international interest in KFSU’s dietary fibre from sugar cane.

“These four industries are part of an exciting future for the Burdekin region and this forum will ensure everyone is being kept up to date on their development,” she said.

The Burdekin Industry/Business Update will be held at the Burdekin Theatre on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The Theatre Bar will be open following the forum to allow for networking opportunities.
