Repairs to the Groper Creek boat ramp and jetty are a step closer with $410,000 in works approved by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.
Burdekin Shire Council Environment and Operations Director Trevor Williams said Council had made a submission on behalf of the Department of Transport and Main Roads for funding under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA) for the damage done to the boat ramp and jetty during the floods in March this year.
“Works will be programmed and carried out by the Department of Transport and Main Roads,” he said.
“The works will include the removal and replacement of the broken boat ramp, however these works will be dependent on DTMR evaluations of the structure and their works program.
“Minor repair work will be done to the jetty.”
NDRRA funding is provided by both the Federal Government (75 per cent) and State Government (25 per cent).
