Hundreds Turn Up to Enjoy Burdekin Band Fest

About 300 music lovers crowded into the Burdekin Theatre Foyer on Saturday night for the Burdekin Band Fest.

Burdekin Shire Council Economic and Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said the event was a great success and congratulated the Burdekin Youth Council members on a job well done.

“It’s a great night for our youth in a safe environment and the entertainment provided by the bands kept them dancing,” he said.

“There were six performances in the night’s line up, Absolute Zero (Townsville), Luke Thomas (Charters Towers), Green Whistle (Burdekin), Here’s Trouble (Burdekin), Why Wait (Townsville) and A Little Left of Centre (Burdekin).

“But guest performer Trent Bell was the biggest hit with the crowd and his performance showed why he made it to the finals in X Factor.”

Mr Vaccaro congratulated all the performers for providing a rocking good time.

Bands provided a variety of musical genres, which the crowd of all ages enjoyed.  After such a successful event, Youth Council is already considering options for similar events in the future.

Burdekin Band Fest was held in conjunction with National Youth Week.
