Burdekin residents will start receiving their rates notices in their mail box this week.
Burdekin Shire Council Corporate and Community Services Director Dan Mulcahy said the rates notices would be issued this week (7/9/12) and residents would be eligible for a discount if they paid their bill by Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
“We have provided an extension on the discount due date to cater for those travelling away for the school holidays,” he said.
Residents can pay their rates bill at the Council Chambers, Australia Post, or Queensland Country Credit Union. Methods of payment are listed on the reverse of the rates notices.
Customers can also pay through their own bank using BPay from their savings account. To pay by credit card, customers can log on to the Council’s website or phone 1300 276 468.
Pensioners who are living in their own home may qualify for a pensioner remission and are advised to contact the Customer Service Centre to register their details.
New pension card holders will need to apply for the pensioner remission, which would then be calculated automatically each year.
To qualify for a pensioner remission, residents need to have either a Pensioner Concession Card from Centrelink or a Gold Card issued by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
