Council seeks help to catch vandals

Burdekin Shire Council is calling on residents to help catch whoever sprayed graffiti on the Anzac Park toilet block.

Mayor Bill Lowis said the graffiti was sprayed on the block sometime between yesterday afternoon and this morning. (Tuesday, February 26, 2013)

“It’s a shame that a small part of our community feels the need to deface public amenities, because in the end the cost comes back on the ratepayers,” he said.

“What someone has done with a couple of cheap cans of spray paint is going to cost Council a few hundred dollars to get the wall repainted.

“Someone must have seen or heard something about who had done this and I would urge them to pass on any information so the vandals can be caught and brought before the courts.

“There is a reward of up to $5000 for information leading to a successful prosecution.”
