Council votes against putting fluoride in reticulated water supplies

The Burdekin Shire Council today (February 12, 2013) voted against putting fluoride into reticulated water supplies.

The motion _ Council informs State Government Council will not be adding fluoride to its reticulated water supplies – was delayed at the last general meeting on January 22, 2013, to enable more community consultation.

However, councillors today voted 4-3 to proceed without further consultation and subsequently voted 4-3 for the motion.

Mayor Bill Lowis said he would have preferred to have had more consultation with the community on the issue.
