Burdekin Shire Council is seeking tenders for a major upgrade to the Burdekin PCYC.
Mayor Bill Lowis said the $650,000 extension would include new activity rooms, kitchenette areas, office facilities and storage spaces to the building.
“The community also will have better access to outside school hours’ care for children,” he said.
“The centre will provide a safe haven for our youth before and after school and it will be a place where they will enjoy supervised recreational activities.”
Council received the Royalties for the Regions grant earlier this year and has now called to tenders to build the project.
There will be a site inspection held on site at the Burdekin PCYC, 164 Macmillan Street, Ayr, on Thursday, October 2 at 10am until 11am.
Tenders will close at midday, October 17, 2014.
