Bruce Highway – Alligator Creek Bridge

Bruce Highway, Alligator Creek Bridge
Located approximately 15kms south of Townsville (approx 20mins)

The Alligator Creek Bridge on the Bruce Highway south of Townsville will be subject to temporary 20 minute closures and speed restrictions over the following period.

Intermittent 20 minute closures
Weather permitting, works will take place between
Thursday 27th November to Sunday 30th November 2014
9.00am to 3.00pm

These closures will allow the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) to undertake necessary repairs to the Alligator Creek riverbed due to erosion from Cyclone Ita earlier this year. Erosion has occurred around a bridge pier and this will require the placement of rock around the pier to prolong the life of this vital Bruce Highway infrastructure.

What to expect:
• 20 minute closures between 9.00am to 3.00pm
• Both lanes will be open to normal traffic between 3.00pm and 9.00am
• Traffic controllers on site to direct traffic
• Speed restrictions and road safety signage

TMR regrets any inconvenience caused by these works, and appreciates your patience and cooperation during this time.
