Do you enjoy hearing the story behind a book? During July the Burdekin Library will feature the work of a number of authors who will talk about their stories and how they got them published.
Burdekin Library Services Manager John Scott said books played an important role in people’s lives.
“Reading is one of the few free pastimes and we are delighted to be featuring local authors during July and their stories,” he said.
“We also find out the story behind Tristan the Teapot, which was written by Barbie Wildish.
“These book sessions will be an enjoyable experience, so make sure to secure your place by making a booking.”
On Tuesday July 1 from 10am-11am Barbie Wildish will reveal her story. She is a self-published author based in Cairns and has written several books on her travels with a teapot called Tristan. Barbie will speak about her travels, her books and her journey into self-publishing. There will be a tea tasting and a morning tea, and then those attending will make a herb garden in a teacup!
On Tuesday July 8 from 10am-11am three Burdekin authors, Tania Cox, Lisa Poli and Don Douglas will talk about how the Burdekin has inspired their stories and how they started writing. This will be followed by a morning tea.
Bookings are essential for both sessions and can be done by calling 4783 9970.
