Burdekin Shire Youth Council to host Fasttrack Talent Showcase

Do you want to have a career in the entertainment industry? Then sign up for the Fasttrack Talent Showcase which is coming to the Burdekin on August 16.

Burdekin Shire Youth Council coordinator Tammy Quagliata said the event would be held at the Burdekin Theatre in Ayr thanks to a $12,000 grant from the Regional Arts Development Fund.

“This is a really exciting event for our youth. Yoyo Music Pty Ltd brings together a creative and experienced team of passionate people to deliver workshops for youth and ends in a live performance,” she said.

“A morning workshop will be held which will be hosted by a guest celebrity from last year’s X Factor and 2012 Junior Songwriter of the Year Frank Dixon.

“There’ll be Talent Showcase heats in the afternoon where local performers of all ages and genres will be given the opportunity to perform in front of the industry panel of judges, who act as scouts for The Voice and X Factor, a celebrity guest as well family, friends and local residents.

“The top 12 performances from the showcase will the go on to the Final Showcase on Saturday night where they will have the opportunity to win great cash and prizes.

“The event will conclude with a performance by Frank Dixon and our secret X Factor guest celebrity, who will be announced in the coming weeks.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our talented local youth to learn from entertainment professionals.”

This event is open to performers in the North Queensland region including Burdekin, Bowen, Charters Towers and Townsville. Nominations will open in the next few weeks.
