Stalls have been booked and activities have been finalised for the Burdekin Queensland Week Family Fun and Fitness Expo next weekend.
Burdekin Shire Council Economic and Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said the Expo, on Sunday, June 1, at ANZAC Park, Ayr, would be a great event for the whole family to attend.
“I think this year’s event will be a fantastic opportunity for families to come along for some fun and to sample some of the fitness activities on offer in the Burdekin,” he said.
“There will be market stalls, a car display from the Burdekin Cruisers Car Club, health, fitness and well-being displays and Captain Active also will be there with activities for the children.
“We really want this Expo to be a fun, but active day, for the whole family.”
Mr Vaccaro said the Burdekin Queensland Week Family Fun and Fitness Expo was aimed at increasing participation in sport and recreational activities and promoting a healthy lifestyle within the shire.
“There will be free come-and-try activities for those interested in kicking off a healthier lifestyle and free face painting, merry-go-round, jumping castle and rockwall climbing to keep the children entertained,” he said.
“We have distributed Queensland Week colouring-in competitions to all the region’s primary schools and the winners will be announced on the day.”
The Queensland Government provided $5500 to the Burdekin Shire Council for the Queensland Week activities.
