The bountiful Burdekin was on show to industry and residents in Brisbane last week at the Regional Queensland Showcase.
Burdekin Shire Council’s Mayor Bill Lowis, Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro and Burdekin Economic Development Strategic Advisory Group Chairman Dan Horan attended the event as part of the Townsville Region display.
Cr Lowis said the event was reasonably well attended considering there were other activities going on in the Brisbane Exhibition Centre.
“It was a great opportunity to showcase what we do in the Townsville region and in particular the Burdekin,” he said.
“The aim of the two-day Regional Queensland Showcase was to promote why regional Queensland is such a great place to live, work, learn and invest.
“Tony and I spoke with a number of interested groups including the Queensland Agricultural Show Society, potential investors and potential residents.”
“We had samples such as sugar, achacha products and KFibre on offer to those who stopped by our display.”
Cr Lowis said the two-day event was full on.
“The first day was more of an industry day while the second day saw the Brisbane public come through the doors.
“It was busy time, but I think it was worth our time being there. Any time spent promoting our Shire to prospective investors or residents is time well spent in my view.”
