Burdekin Shire Youth Council receives $7500 toward dance workshop

The Burdekin Shire Youth Council has received $7500 from the ANZ Seeds of Renewal program for a hip hop dance workshop and community youth dance next year.

Council’s Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said the funding would go towards bringing former Justice Crew member E Man(Emmanuel Rodriguez) to the Burdekin.

“Our Youth Council put in for funding earlier this year to not only host dance workshops, but also an alcohol and drug-free community youth dance,” he said.

“Our Community Development team has been successful in securing E Man to host the workshops and to be our special guest at the Don’t Need Drinks to Dance party.

“The Youth Council wanted to do something to increase education around the harmful effects of substance abuse and came up with the idea of an alcohol and drug-free dance party.

“I would like to congratulate the current Youth Council on being successful in their funding application.”

It is expected the event will be held in April next year.

The ANZ Seeds of Renewal program supports education and employment projects across Australia.
