Christmas comes to Burdekin this weekend

The Burdekin will be alive with the Christmas spirit this weekend with the annual Community Christmas Carols being held at ANZAC Park on Sunday from 6pm.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Bill Lowis said the event was a great opportunity for families to come together and celebrate Christmas.

“We have a great line up of local talent and the Combined Community Band and Choir who will perform all the traditional carols,” he said.

“There will be a lantern parade for the children where they can show off the Christmas lanterns they made.

“The Lions and Rotary Clubs will have a barbecue on site and Lions will also be selling Lions Cakes and coolers.

“Cherish will have coffee and tea and Burdekin Scouts will be selling cold drinks.

“There will be flameless candles and glow sticks available for purchase for those who forget their lanterns.”

Cr Lowis urged all residents to come along and join the Christmas fun.

“It’s a great night where our community can come together, enjoy some excellent entertainment and celebrate the coming festive season,” he said.

“I look forward to seeing you all there.”

The Burdekin Community Christmas Carols will be held at ANZAC Park, Ayr, on Sunday December 6 from 6pm.
