More than 70 performers line up for Burdekin Fasttrack Talent Showcase

More than 70 performers will take to the stage at the Burdekin Fasttrack Talent Showcase being held on Saturday (November 14) at the Burdekin Theatre.

Council’s Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said the 33 acts included a rapper, singers, dancers, bands and musicians.

“It’s very exciting to think that those who perform here could be the on the way to stardom,” he said.

“These types of events are scouted by industry professionals for acts to enter shows such as The X Factor – who knows, we could have the next Aussie super star on our stage.”

Mr Vaccaro said the event’s first heat would kick off at midday and the second at 2pm with the final showcase being held from 7pm.

“I would urge residents to pre-purchase tickets to the event to avoid disappointment,” he said.

“The final showcase was very popular last year and there were delays caused by people getting last-minute tickets.

“Townsville product Trent Bell will also perform during the Showcase. He is a great example of how these sorts of events can lead to a performer’s dream coming true.

“Trent grew up in Townsville, appeared on The X Factor, became a member of the boy group The Collective and is now a solo artist.

“He and Frank Dixon, a former Australian Under-18 Songwriter of the Year, and Christine Collyer from YoYo Music Management, will be judging and mentoring our performers on the day.”

Tickets can be purchased from the Burdekin Shire Council or online at www.burdekintheatre.com.au. General admission tickets to the all the heats are $10 and $20 for the Final Talent Showcase. The Burdekin Theatre Box Office will be open an hour prior to each heat, and from 3.30pm on the day.

This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and the generosity of the following major sponsors Burdekin Shire Council, Wilmar, Tasha’s Top Shop, Rotary Club of Ayr, Home Hill Lions Club, The Burdekin Advocate and YoYo Music.
