New-look program for Burdekin Australia Day celebrations

A program packed with local performers is sure to keep Burdekin residents entertained at this year’s Burdekin Shire Council Australia Day Award celebrations.

Burdekin Mayor Bill Lowis said the judges had a difficult task choosing just one winner from the Award nominations.

“Our judges have finished selecting this year’s Award winners and I look forward to announcing the winners on Monday at our new-look event,” he said.

“The celebrations will kick off at 10am with a free morning tea in the Burdekin Theatre forecourt and the formalities begin at 11am.”

Cr Lowis said the line-up of Burdekin talent was something everyone should come to see.

“We are very lucky in the Burdekin to have such a wealth of talent to choose from,” he said.

“Some of the performers are Rick Romeo, Aicey Zaro, Ron Odgers, Lauren Raitelli, Adam Dudley, Monica Licciardello, Blackboard Diagram and the cast from the upcoming Boy from Oz production.

“That’s a great line up for just $3.”

Tickets for the event can be purchased from the Burdekin Theatre box office or from www.burdekintheatre.com.au.

Australia Day celebrations will be held at the Burdekin Theatre on Monday, January 26, 2015, commencing at 11am.
