Job Vacancy 16/28 – Coordinator Waste Services

Burdekin Shire Council is currently seeking an experienced waste management professional to join our Environment and Health Team.

Reporting to the Manager Governance and Local Laws, this position will play an integral role in coordinating and delivery of the Council’s main waste collection and disposal services and implementing Council’s Action Plan contained within the North Queensland Waste Reduction and Recycling Plan 2014-24.

A primary focus of this role is to deliver innovative waste solutions and process improvement to achieve strong customer service. The role has responsibility and oversight for waste services, facilities and operations contracts, waste education, statutory reporting and stakeholder relationships.

In addition to substantial experience in waste management, the ideal candidate will bring knowledge and advice in the environmental field. Your experience will demonstrate effective presentation skills, negotiation skills and the ability to work collaboratively. A high level of analytical skills, including sound knowledge of technical waste management issues will help you succeed in this role.

Council’s current waste collection contract expires on 30 June 2017 and Council is currently reviewing its options in this area.

The applicable salary is to a ceiling of Level 6 ($85,434pa) with the commencing salary dependent upon the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
