Concert to raise funds for Golden Octopus Foundation

If you’re a lover of big bands then get your tickets now for the Gala Charity Performance Combined Bands Spectacular next week.

Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said three bands would join for one spectacular performance at the Burdekin Theatre on Thursday, 15 September at 7pm.

“The Proserpine High School Concert Band, Burdekin Christian College Band and the Burdekin Brass Band are joining forces to create a great night of music for all to enjoy,” she said.

“Council and the Burdekin Friends of the Theatre are sponsoring the event, however there is a $5 entry fee to raise funds for and awareness of childhood cancer.

“All proceeds from the entry fee will be donated to the Golden Octopus Foundation, which was started by local girl Keely Johnson.”

Cr McLaughlin said the Proserpine High School Concert Band would also perform on Tuesday at the Burdekin Theatre Forecourt from 12.30pm.

“This is a free lunch time event, so make sure you grab some lunch and come down to the Burdekin Theatre Forecourt to enjoy these young people play,” she said.

“Council will have tables and chairs set up in the shaded areas of the Forecourt, so there will be plenty of places to have your lunch.”
