Burdekin Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the appointment of three independent members to Council’s Audit Committee for a period of two (2) years commencing February 2017 (with the possibility of a two-year extension period). The three positions are: Independent Community Member, Independent Professional Member, and Independent Chairperson.
The Audit Committee meets at least four (4) times per year in Ayr, Queensland and is a source of independent advice to the Council and CEO regarding finance, governance, risk management and audit related matters. The Committee is a statutory committee established under Section 105 of the Queensland Local Government Act 2009 and operates within its adopted Audit Committee Charter. This can be obtained from Council on request.
Candidates must not be either current or former Councillors or current or former employees of Council. Candidates must be generally of good character and must not have any criminal convictions. Each candidate must be able and willing to subscribe to Burdekin Shire Council’s Code of Conduct. Candidates must either hold an ABN or be willing to apply for an ABN, however are not necessarily required to be registered for GST. Applicants should highlight their suitability for the role through the provision of a cover letter, resume, referees and any other supporting documents.
