Burdekin Shire Council will temporarily close Ayr’s Graham Street bus stop to allow maintenance works to be completed.
Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said a temporary bus stop would be set up approximately 50m away during the works from 13-23 June, 2016, weather permitting.
“There will be temporary signage advising of the closure and directing travellers to the temporary bus stop behind the Delta Backpackers,” she said.
“Council will advise bus companies and travel agents of the change to ensure travellers know where to go to catch a bus.
“The current bus stop will receive a fresh coat of paint as part of Council’s regular maintenance program of these public facilities.”
Cr McLaughlin said access to the off-street parking facility at Tommy Tie Park would be maintained.
“However, there will be a section of centre parking along Graham Street which will be unavailable during the work,” she said.
The Mayor also urged pedestrians and motorists to obey all signage and instructions from on-site personnel for their own safety and the safety of Council’s workforce.
Council thanks residents and road users for their patience for the duration of the works and apologises for any inconvenience to travellers using the bus stop.
