Burdekin Shire Council has resolved to engage the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) to provide Council with an interim Chief Executive Officer.
Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the interim CEO was employed by LGAQ and would commence on October 17.
“I can announce that former Cassowary Coast Regional Council CEO Terry Brennan will take up this temporary position,” she said.
“Mr Brennan has an extensive history in local government and was with Cassowary Coast from July 2008 through to July 2016.
“More recently he has been working with the Department of Local Government as an adviser.
“He will be in this position until Council appoints a new CEO.”
Cr McLaughlin said the Council also resolved to engage the services of Leading Roles to conduct the recruitment process.
“This company specialises in local government recruitment and it is envisaged the recruitment process would take six to eight weeks,” she said.
“We hope to have someone start in the role early next year.”
