Do you have items sitting in the back of the cupboard taking up precious space? Want to clean out the garage? Join the Burdekin Shire Council in supporting the national Garage Sale Trail next month.
Burdekin Mayor Lyn McLaughlin is encouraging residents, community groups and schools to join Australia’s biggest garage sale on Saturday, October 22.
“Council joined this event last year and it was a great success, however some of the feedback from residents was that it was hard to get around all the sales, so this year we’ve decided to hold a Community Garage Sale at Park Street near Anzac Park,” she said.
“This is a great option for those who don’t want to have a sale at home, but still have items they’d like to sell.
“The community sale will run from 8am until midday and will be a one-stop shop for buyers and sellers.
“The idea behind this Garage Sale Trail is to reuse or recycle items that would otherwise end up in our landfill, and it’s an opportunity to make a little money.
“If anyone has any questions or needs any help registering they can contact our Community Development team on 4783 9800.”
If residents, businesses, organisations or schools want to take part in this free event, please register via www.garagesaletrail.com.au.
Registration is free and includes a seller webpage that can be personalised by naming the garage sale and listing items that will be for sale on the day. There are also tips and tools available to help sellers promote their sales locally. Those registering before September 25 will receive a free seller’s pack with lots of goodies to ensure a successful garage sale.
