Technology takes centre stage at Burdekin Library

Technology will take centre stage at the Burdekin Library Ayr with the commencement of Tech Tuesdays.

Burdekin Shire Council Library Services Manager John Scott said the fortnightly Tech Tuesdays, which start on August 30, would cover a range of topics.

“We have a great program lined up which will cover 3D printing, using the online library, eBooks, robotics and coding,” he said.

“These classes will be repeated fortnightly and additional classes will be run based on demand.

“Everyone is welcome to attend any of the classes and to help the community with technology awareness we will over time change the topics to keep everyone up to date.

“Bookings are essential due to the limited seating and facilities available at our innovation space Ideas@108.”

The Tech Tuesday program is as follows:

9.30am-10.30am: Introduction to 3D printing. Maximum 3 people per class, hands-on experience.

11am-11.30am: How to use the library from home.  This session will cover searching the catalogue, reserving and renewing books, Lynda.com and more. Maximum 15 per class.

12.30pm-1pm: eBooks and the Burdekin Library. Bring your tablet, get set up and explore the collection, learning how to borrow and return eBooks. Maximum 15 per class.

2pm-3pm: Introduction to Robotics and Coding. This is a fun hands-on class for parents, grandparents and interested adults where you will be shown what robotics and coding is all about. Maximum 15 per class.
