All Giru residents to continue to conserve water for essential purposes

Ergon Energy has advised that issues with transmission lines between Alligator Creek and Ayr continue to interrupt normal power supply to the Giru township and the Cungulla water treatment plant.

Electrical storms currently occurring in the region are hampering repair efforts.

The Giru Water Tower is currently at 58% capacity.

Water held in low level storages at the Giru Water Tower and Water Treatment Plant will be able to be delivered to the water tower once full power supply has been restored.

Residents need to be mindful to continue to conserve water.

This advisory will be reviewed tomorrow morning Thursday 30th March, 2017 following an assessment of the operational status of the Giru water supply.

Council appreciates your assistance in conserving water to this point and reminds all residents to use potable water for essential purposes only until further advice can be issued by Burdekin Shire Council.

Please remember

It is vital that residents in Giru conserve water.
