Members of the community are invited to attend a free morning tea to celebrate Harmony Day on March 21 at the Burdekin Library.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said it is important to recognize and celebrate cultural diversity within the district as ‘Everyone Belongs’.
“The Harmony Day morning tea will be a great opportunity to experience a range of cultural activities including pasta making, viewing a cultural display and listening to: bagpipes, the didgeridoo and an Italian choir,” she said.
The Burdekin Cultural Recipe Book will be available to purchase for a gold coin donation, however if you still haven’t submitted your recipe there is still a chance to do so before March 13 by contacting the Burdekin Library on 4783 9970 or emailing .
The Burdekin Community Association is participating in Harmony Day celebrations and will host a photograph competition with details available on their Facebook page. All photos submitted will be on display and the competition winner will be announced at the morning tea.
The Harmony Day Morning Tea will be held on Tuesday 21 March at the Burdekin Library. There is no charge to attend this community event which will run from 9.30am -11.30am.
