New Writer’s Club to be established

Do you love to write? Have you written something you would like to share? The Burdekin Library is partnering with the Burdekin Readers & Writers to establish a Writer’s Club.

The first meeting of the club will be held at the Burdekin Library Ayr on Tuesday, February 21, from 9.30am until noon and will include morning tea.

Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said the club would hold meetings on the third Tuesday of each month.

“This is an ideal platform for residents who have an interest in writing and want to learn more about the craft,” he said.

“Council is excited to be working with the Burdekin Readers & Writers in getting this club established.

“There is no cost for people wanting to attend the meetings.

“The plan is to invite people of interest to address the club meetings and the first guest will be ABC Open Producer Tom Edwards on March 28.

“Tom has a background in journalism and his role at the ABC is to help community members in North Queensland to share their stories through ABC Open projects.”
