Council advises vigilance about scam activity

Burdekin Shire Council is warning the community to be vigilant about scam activity, after a number of residents were approached for money in return for kerbside number painting.

Council has received several calls from residents who state they were approached by a group of men going door-to-door asking if people would like their house numbers painted on the kerb.

The men falsely advised they were sent by Council and asked for a $40 fee.

Council does not endorse or approve of these operators in any way. Residents are advised to take due care and report any concerns or complaints to the police.
