Bumper program of school holiday activities planned

Burdekin kids will have plenty to cheer about when the school holidays arrive.

Burdekin Library is teaming up with Lower Burdekin Gymnastics and Cheer Academy to present a free Cheer Clinic featuring games, cheers, tumbling and fun on Tuesday 4 July.

The clinic, for kids aged 5-7 years, is just one of the many free school holiday activities set to be offered in the coming school break.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said Burdekin Library’s school holiday program kept children engaged in learning over the school break.

“It means that creativity and learning doesn’t have to stop when school does,” Cr McLaughlin said.

“We offer a diverse range of fun, free activities to get children’s creative juices and imaginations flowing.”

The school holiday activity program kicks off on Monday 26 June with plaster painting at both Ayr and Home Hill libraries.

Vase design and art workshops, craft activities and a session on the STEAM areas of Science, Gravity, Physics, Force and Engineering will help to fuel young minds throughout the school holidays.
