Grants and Sponsorships

What type of funding is available for local sporting and cultural organisations and individuals?

Community Grants for Community, Sporting and not-for-profit Groups and Organisations

Burdekin Shire Council recognise, respect and value the contribution that community, sporting and not-for-profit groups and organisations make within our community.

One of the ways Council recognise and support this contribution is through a series of grants and contribution programs.

There are two types of Community Grants now available, the Community Development Grant and the Community Support Grant.

All requests for funding must be completed on an official application form, however, before applying for either of the grants, please ensure you have read the Community Grants Guide for Applicants.

Applications may be submitted at any time.

Grants for Excellence in Sports and Cultural Activities

Burdekin Shire Council has a policy of providing financial assistance to individuals selected for State or National representation.

The type of assistance is aimed at assisting local juniors who have been selected for representative fixtures or partly assisting with travel costs.

A scale of assistance has been established.

Individual applicants must be residents of Burdekin Shire or full time students whose supporting parents reside in the Burdekin Shire.

An individual is limited to one grant per sport per financial year, unless selected for higher honours.

Applicants must be under the age of 18 years or bonda fide students in full- time education who have been selected for State or National representation.

Applications may be submitted at any time.

Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF)

Regional Arts Development Fund, run in partnership with Arts Queensland, provides funding for artistic projects, concept development, individual professional development and skills development.

There are two rounds per year.

Interest Free Loans

Burdekin Shire Council has a policy of providing revenue financial assistance (interest free loans) to sporting bodies and community organisations located on Council owned or controlled land (reserves).

The assistance is in respect of structural improvements, such as Clubhouse construction and associated fixtures. No assistance is provided in relation to contents or items of a non-structural nature. Maintenance, minor repairs or moveable items will not be funded. All monetary assistance must be repaid to the Council over an agreed period of time.

To be eligible, all applicants must provide documentary proof that a funding application has been submitted to the State Government in respect of the proposed structural improvements.

There is no guarantee that all applications will be approved, either in total or in part, depending on the number and type of applications received.

Applications are invited by public advertisement around August each year.
