RED LID

For waste material which cannot be recycled or composted

GARBAGE ONLY

  • Food Waste
  • General Waste
  • Non Recyclable Packages

Your red lidded bin will be collected weekly

ACCEPTABLENOT ACCEPTABLE
  • Household waste
  • Plastic bags and other non recyclable plastics
  • Packaging material e.g. bubble wrap and polystyrene foam
  • Disposable nappies
  • Crockery, ceramics and pyrex
  • Light globes and tubes
  • Mirrors and broken glass
  • Cigarette butts
  • Kitty Litter
  • Recyclable materials – put them in the yellow lidded bin
  • Car parts and batteries
  • Paints, solvents, motor and cooking oils
  • Asbestos or other hazardous material
  • Concrete, bricks, timber
  • Soil and rock (large amounts)
  • Gas bottles or fire extinguishers

Helpful Hints

  • DO NOT overfill bins – the lid must close fully.
  • Bins should be out at the kerbside the night before collection.
  • Choose recycled goods when shopping.
  • Avoid buying over packaged products.

YELLOW LID

For material which can be recycled

  • Glass bottles and Jars
  • All Plastic Containers
  • Aluminium, Steel and Aerosol Cans (empty)
  • Cartons – Milk, Juice etc (flattened)
  • Paper, Cardboard (flattened), Newspaper and Magazines

NO PLASTIC BAGS, CLING FILM, CERAMICS, BUILDING MATERIAL OR HOUSEHOLD WASTE

Your yellow lidded bin will be collected fortnightly

ACCEPTABLENOT ACCEPTABLE
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Aluminum, steel and aerosol cans (empty)
  • All plastic containers – EXCEPT PLASTIC BAGS
  • Cartons – egg, milk, juice, etc (flattened)
  • Paper, cardboard (flattened)
  • Newspaper, books and magazines
  • Old letters and junk mail
  • Telephone books
  • Plastic bags
  • Plastic toys
  • Windows and mirrors
  • Light globes and tubes
  • Bubble wrap, polystyrene foam or other packaging material
  • Crockery, ceramics, pyrex or porcelain
  • Syringes
  • Scrap metal and appliances
  • Garden organics or foodscraps

Helpful Hints

  • Remove all caps and lids from jars and bottles.
  • Wash and squash containers and cans.
  • NO plastic bags.
  • NO sharp, hazardous or rotting waste.

GREEN LID

For compostable garden waste

GARDEN WASTE ONLY

  • Branches
  • Lawn Clippings

Your green lidded bin will be collected fortnightly
(Alternate week to your yellow recycling bin)

  • No mangoes or fruit
  • No plastic bags
  • No hot ashes
  • Food waste cannot be collected with your garden waste bin, but it is great for home composting and worm farms.
