Burdekin Theatre

The Burdekin Theatre and Complex is located at 161 Queen Street in Ayr and is the home of arts & entertainment in the Burdekin region.

The Burdekin Cultural Complex houses the

  • 492 seat Burdekin Theatre
  • 150 seat Music Loft
  • 500 capacity outdoor entertainment Plaza
  • Starlight Foyer – cabaret performance & function space

The Complex is also utilised as a conference, function and meeting facility.

Meeting equipment is available for hire, to be used on the premises only.

The Burdekin Theatre & Complex is owned by the Burdekin Shire Council and is operated by the Burdekin Cultural Complex Board Inc. This wonderful regional arts Complex hosts a range of National, State and International performers and productions each year. The Burdekin’s active local arts community also present a range of entertainment, exhibitions and events at the Complex each year.

The Burdekin Theatre is available for hire for performances, meetings, presentations and seminars. The Theatre’s Foyer & Music Loft cater for small functions of 25 people or larger functions of up to 140 persons, theatre seating style. There are In-house catering options available to complement your event as well as a range of equipment to cater for your event needs. If you have booked a Theatre function room and prefer to use an outside caterer they are welcome to hire the Theatre kitchen facilities.

The Burdekin Theatre has a website http://www.burdekintheatre.com.au/ where you can view upcoming shows, a theatre seating plan, or book your tickets online. Online bookings require payment by credit card. Once payment has been processed a reservation can be printed which enables you to pick up your pre-purchased tickets from the Theatre’s Box Office.

The Burdekin Theatre offers student, group and concession discounts. Concession discounts are offered to holders of a current pensioner card. Complimentary tickets are also available to carers of disabled patrons for all Burdekin Cultural Complex Board presentations. Carers must hold a current “Carers Card”.

Each year, during May, the theatre hosts the Burdekin Junior Eisteddfod. Tickets to the Eisteddfod are only available for purchase from the Burdekin Eisteddfod Committee. However, the Theatre Box Office sells tickets to the Eisteddfod concert which is held on the last day of the Eisteddfod.
