Bonnie Johnson with the five Kindles

The Burdekin Library is proud to provide you with access to a wide range of free online e-books.

But first, what are e-books and e-book readers? Click here for a quick guide from Wikipedia.

We are very lucky to have access to a wide range of e-books through the State Library of Queensland:

  • TumbleBooks – a website with children’s e-books and games. (These cannot be downloaded, only viewed online).
  • EBook Library (EBL) - almost 100,000 non-fiction e-books on a variety of subjects for you to enjoy! (*you will need to use your library card to register for a QPL account before accessing the EBL*)

Or you can try out these websites offering free e-books:

Or you can even check out LibriVox, where you can listen to eAudiobooks for free!

And, if that’s not enough, why not borrow one of the library’s Kindles already loaded with e-books for you to enjoy!  The Kindles were provided from grant funding through the State Library of Queensland and the State Government. Click here to see our current range available.
