Vandalism

Vandalism is a recurring problem in the Burdekin Shire costing ratepayers many thousands of dollars annually. Council receives regular reports of acts of vandalism such as:

  • Graffiti
  • Park fencing damaged by vehicles
  • Park lawns cut up by vehicles
  • Median strips planted with flowers and shrubs run over by vehicles
  • Damaged and stolen irrigation systems in garden beds
  • Damaged park furniture and playground equipment
  • Damage to public amentities
  • Stolen or damaged road signage

Council will pay a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the conviction of any person or persons for vandalism.
