If you have found an animal that you believe to be lost, Council may be able to reunite it with its owner.
If Council finds a dog or cat…
If the animal is wearing a tag, Council’s Animal Control Officer will be able to find the owner using Council’s Animal Management records. In most cases if the owner can be contacted and the animal will be returned or arrangements made for it to be picked up.
If the animal is not wearing a tag or cannot be identified by microchip it will be taken to Council’s Pound and a photo of the animal, along with any relevant details, will be put on Council’s website in the hope that its owner may find it or it can be re-homed.
If your animal has been impounded release fees, sustenance and registration fees may apply. Current fees can be found by viewing Council’s fees and charges .
