It is widely thought that 99% of relocated possums die, as other possums already occupy the new habitat. If you have a possum in your roof, the best way to remove it is to provide a new home for it in a nearby tree. Firstly put a possum nest box in the tree and wait for a few weeks. Then, when you are sure that the possum has left your roof for the night, block up the possum's access point into your roof. Hopefully the possum will take up residence in its new home. If you block your roof, without providing alternative accommodation, the possum will probably force its way back into your roof. Please note that it is illegal throughout the state of Queensland to physically relocate a possum.
