Tune in to the Burdekin Library Radio show on Sweet FM. Donna Higginson will read short stories and poems every second Saturday. Date for May is the 4th, 17th and 31st.

Jo Hinchliffe workshops

On Tuesday the 17th of June the Burdekin Library will be hosting a visit from Jo Hinchcliffe. If your class or school would like to participate in one of the five one hour session, please contsct the Children's Librarian on 47839975 and we can book a session for you.

Climate Smart Project

The Home Hill Community has the opportunity to take part in a climate smart project to protect our environment. Upon showing residential identification, for example, a Council rates notice or Ergon energy bill, you can bring two of your traditional household light bulbs into the Home Hill Library and exchange them for two energy efficient ones absolutely free!! (Available from 1st May until stocks run out)

  Membership

  • Membership is free to Burdekin residents and visitors who can provide proof of identity and residency.
  • Children under 18 must be endorsed by a parent or guardian, who must also provide proof of identity and residency.
  • Please notify the Library of any change of name, address or phone number.
  • If you leave the district, please return all your Library loans and hand in your borrower's card before you go.

  Loans

  • Your membership card is necessary for all transactions.
  • Full resident members may borrow up to 12 items for a period of 14 days, taken from the following:
  • 10 books
  • 4 magazines
  • 4 Audio Visual items(Video, CD, DVD, Cass, CD-ROM)
  • Non-resident members can borrow up to 4 items with a limit of 1 audio visual item.
  • You may renew or reserve Library materials simply by phoning either Library or visiting the library web site.
  • You will need your membership card to do this.

  Local History Facilities

  If you are conducting any local or family research, the local history room at the library may be a place to visit. There are local history books and ephemeral material available containing local information. Search for available items via the Library online catalogue.

  The following Microfilm and Microfiche can be viewed on the Microfiche Reader/Scanner and copied to a portable device or printed for 20c per page.
