Annual Operation Fee:

Fees are subject to risk category assessed upon inspection of Council’s Environmental Health Officer.

The risk category is based on the risk characteristics of the food handled and the amount of food handled/size of food premises.

Definitions:

 

Category A – High Risk

Food that may contain pathogenic microorganisms and will support formation of toxics or growth of pathogenic microorganisms.  Eg. Raw meat, oysters, fish, poultry and milk.

 

Category B – Medium Risk

Food that may contain pathogenic microorganisms but will not normally support their growth due to food characteristics or food that is unlikely to contain pathogenic microorganisms due to food type or processing but may support formation of toxins or growth of pathogenic microorganisms.  Eg. Fruit, vegetables, orange juice, canned meats, pasteurised milk, dairy products, ice-cream, peanut butter and milk based confectionary.

Category C – Low Risk

Food that is unlikely to contain pathogenic microorganisms and will not normally support their growth due to food characteristics.  Eg. Grains and cererals, bread, carbonated beverages, sugar based confectionary, alcohol and fats and oils.

Large Size:                 100 meal servings and more per day

Medium Size:               50 to 100 meal servings per day

Small Size:                  up to 50 meal servings per day

Note:    Licences/registrations expire on 30th June annually.
