Burdekin rugby league fans have the opportunity to meet an Australian legend on Friday afternoon.
Burdekin Shire Council Economic and Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said Shane Webcke would meet with sports fans and be available for autographs and photos.
“It’s not often we get such an Aussie legend come to the Burdekin, so we hope we get lots of people down to meet with Shane,” he said.
“He spent his entire league career with the Brisbane Broncos and played for Queensland in the State of Origin 21 times as well as being captain of the Maroons.
“He also represented Australia in 18 Tests and is considered one of the best front rowers to play the game.”
Mr Vaccaro said Webcke had been invited to visit the Burdekin in his capacity as Local Government Association of Queensland ambassador.
Webcke will be at the Burdekin Sports Club, Wickham Street, Ayr, from 4pm-5pm.
