Cooking, eating and writing about food will be the focus of the Burdekin Library in the next few weeks.
Burdekin Library Services Manager John Scott said the Burdekin Library in Ayr was having a sausage sizzle to raise funds for Relay for Life this Saturday (May 26).
“The staff have organised a team for the Relay for Life and the sausage sizzle is one of our fundraising activities,” he said.
Mr Scott said the Queensland Writers Centre, in partnership with the State Library of Queensland, was bringing food blogger and author Lorraine Elliott, aka Not Quite Nigella, to the Burdekin Library Ayr on June 8 as part of the Food Tales 2012.
“Lorraine Elliott will share her passion for food and cooking and tell the stories behind recipes and the act of cooking,” he said.
“People attending will be able to talk with Lorraine about her cooking adventures, sample some local produce and take part in a creative food-writing workshop.
“Food Tales 2012 will also cover practical digital publishing techniques, which will give participants the chance to contribute to the collaborative Food Tales website, or to set up their own blog.”
Food Tales 2012 will be held on Friday June 8, from 10.30am. For bookings, contact Burdekin Library Ayr on 4783 9970.
