Burdekin residents are being urged to kick off their winter woollies and sign up for the Get Fit for Free four-week fitness program.
Burdekin Shire Council Economic and Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said the Council’s Burdekin Be Active Advisory Committee was challenging residents to get active.
“All you have to do is sign up to attend two fitness classes each week for four weeks,” he said.
“At the end of the challenge, as well as reaping the benefits from exercise, there will be great prizes and incentives for participants.
“The program is aimed at residents over the age of 25 who may not be as active as they should be and is an ideal way to try a new physical activity for four weeks.
“The classes being offered are spin class, boxing, yogalates and weights training.
“This would be a great way to get moving during the winter months.”
Mr Vaccaro said the program would run from Monday, July 9, through to Friday, August 3.
The program is being funded by the Australian Government’s Swap It, Don’t Stop It Campaign.
Residents wishing to sign up or get more information about the program should contact Council on 4783 9832 or visit the Council website at www.burdekin.qld.gov.au.
