Burdekin industries were on show today as part of an information tour of the region by Townsville Enterprise economic development representatives.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the tour was to keep Townsville Enterprise informed about what was happening in the Burdekin region.
“This tour of some of our newest industries will help build a basis of knowledge for Townsville Enterprise to market our region,” she said.
“Townsville Enterprise is the voice of North Queensland’s industry, business and tourism and we need to make sure they are kept up to date with these exciting new ventures.
“We took the delegation on a tour of QMN Manufacturing, KFSU dietary fibre and the newly established Blue Ribbon Seeds plant.
“The aim of the tour was to show how Burdekin businesses are supplying products not just to the North Queensland market, but nationally and internationally.”
Cr McLaughlin said Townsville Enterprise was an important ally in helping to secure investment for the Burdekin region.
Townsville Enterprise representatives included Chief Executive Officer David Kippin, Economic Development General Manager Ross Contarino, Economic Development Strategic Projects Co-ordinator Renee Turner, Economic Development Project Officer Matt Morris and Economic Development intern Lisa Budd.
