THE Burdekin Shire Council wants to hear from all local community and sporting groups so it can update its community directory and events calendar.
Economic and Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said Council was often called on to supply contact details for local groups, clubs or organisations.
“It’s important that our records are updated every year to help us put callers in touch with the right person,” he said.
“Groups also can take advantage of an opportunity to publicise their upcoming events free of charge by adding their events to the council events calendar.
“Whether it’s a major sporting competition, school fete, craft fair, festival or charity golf day, we want to know about it.”
Mr Vaccaro said all registered events would be displayed on the Burdekin Shire Council website.
“Registering your event is a great way to gain free promotion, and is vital to avoid clashes with other local events,” he said.
“If your group is planning an event for next year, but has not tied down a date, just indicate which month you’re thinking of holding the event. This way, you can start getting information out there.
“The calendar of events is updated frequently, so you can contact the council with more details when you have them.”
