The Burdekin Shire Council will spend $37,500 of its budget on having a complete detail design done for the refurbishment of the Ayr Pool.
Mayor Bill Lowis said Council had applied for additional government grants to go forward with the $180,000 design project.
“Having a detailed design and specifications of the pool is the next step as Council heads toward constructing new facilities,” he said.
“Council is waiting for State Government subsidies that could be used to upgrade the pool to become available, but by having these designs drawn up we will be ready to apply for relevant funding,” he said.
“This year’s Parks and Recreation Budget will include $60,000 for the completion of the skate park in Home Hill and $95,000 for upgrading the Home Hill Cemetery Sextons Hut.”
