The State Minister for Sport and Racing will make a flying visit to the Burdekin to attend the Burdekin Growers Race Day next month.
Burdekin Race Club Secretary Sid Ruskin said the club had invited the Minister, Steve Dickson MP, to attend the premier event and he had accepted.
“We are very pleased that the Minister has taken some time out of his busy schedule to come and spend the day at Burdekin Growers Race Day and also to meet other local sporting entities,” he said.
Burdekin Shire Council Economic and Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said Mr Dickson would also attend a morning tea to be held at the Council Chambers.
“We will invite sporting groups to come and meet the Minister,” he said.
“This is a great opportunity for our sporting groups to meet and speak with the Minister about their sports.
“The morning tea will be held at the Council Chambers from 10am to 11.30am on May 18.”
Mr Vaccaro said the Minister would then attend the races from midday.
