Vandals caused another $3000 in damage to pipework on four roundabouts in Ayr last night.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Bill Lowis said the damage was found by Council employees this morning and some of the roundabouts were the same ones damaged last week.
“The vandals caused damage to roundabouts at the intersections of Airdmillan and Chippendale Streets, Soper and MacMillan Streets, Parker and Munro Streets and Wilmington and Young Streets,” he said.
“Council employees had only just repaired some of these connections and now need to repair them again.
“I urge residents in these areas to call CrimeStoppers if they know who may be responsible for these mindless acts of destruction.
“This sort of behaviour should not be tolerated as it is an unnecessary financial burden on our ratepayers.”
Anyone with any information regarding the vandalism can call CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000. Anonymity is guaranteed and if a successful conviction is made callers may be eligible for a $5000 reward.
