Opening hours of the Burdekin Shire Council waste transfer stations will change from July 1 as part of Council’s push to reduce the cost burden on ratepayers.
Mayor Bill Lowis said Council was trimming costs to reduce the burden on ratepayers as much as possible.
“We are determined to keep costs down and are trying not to impact too much on the services provided to our community,” he said.
“To reduce the impact on residents, the new arrangements have been based on analysis of actual usage data gathered over the last 12 months.
“The transfer stations at Ayr, Home Hill and Giru will operate as normal, but with reduced hours.
“Residents also will be able to take their sorted waste to the stations for free from July 1.”
The Ayr Waste Transfer Station will be open seven days from 10am to 6pm.
The Home Hill Waste Transfer Station will be open seven days from 10am to 5pm.
The Giru Waste Transfer Station will be open Friday and Sunday from 3pm to 6pm.
