Applications are invited for a Financial Accountant in the Council’s Financial Services Department.
The appointee will have intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, experience in operation of computerised financial systems along with sound time management skills. A Degree or Associate Degree in fields such as Management/Business Administration/Accounting is essential. Experience in local government accounting or relevant experience in a related field will be advantageous.
Duties will include interpreting and applying requirements of accounting standards and legislative requirements for asset management accounting, budgeting and reporting in the local government environment. Assist in maintaining computerised financial systems including general ledger, budget ledger parameter records, master file records and asset management.
Provision of support to the Manager – Financial Services and Financial Accountant (Systems), assisting with end of period/end of year reconciliations and reporting procedures, budgeting, maintenance of Council’s computerised financial systems (currently Finance One from Technology One).
Salary and conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Queensland Local Government Officers’ Award, 1998 and Burdekin Shire Council’s Enterprise Bargaining Agreement. The applicable salary is to a ceiling of Level 6 ($82,306pa). Commencing salary shall be dependent upon the skills and experience of the applicant.
