The Burdekin region was on show at the weekend’s Townsville Tourism and Lifestyle Expo.
Burdekin Shire Council Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro hailed the event, which was held in conjunction with the Strand Night Markets on Friday night, a success.
“The Expo is quite well attended by Townsville residents and visitors to the North Queensland region and our team was there to draw potential visitors to the Burdekin region,” he said.
“We promoted food, fashion, fishing and weekend getaways in the Burdekin and were pleased with the response our stall received.
“This was the first event where we displayed our new promotional banners and table cloth which are very eye-catching.
“We gave away about 100 copies of the Bountiful Burdekin’s and a similar number of day trip itineraries.”
Mr Vaccaro said the biannual event was designed to support businesses operating within the NQ region’s tourism and leisure industry.
““The Expo aims to educate the local community on the diversity of tourism and leisure products available within the Townsville region,” he said.
“This subsequently encourages product awareness, local visitation and word of mouth promotion to visiting friends and relatives.
“More than 7000 people usually attend the event so it is well worth our while to be there promoting the Burdekin.”
