Burdekin businesses are being urged to take part in the Queensland Government’s Buy Locally campaign.
Burdekin Shire Council Community Development Manager Tony Vaccaro said next week was Small Business Week highlighting the importance of small businesses to local communities.
“Small Business Week runs from September 1-6 and it’s all about encouraging locals to buy from small business,” he said.
“The highlight of the week is Buy Locally Saturday (September 6), where businesses are encouraged to hold an event like a sausage sizzle or offer discounts, prizes or special offers on the day to attract customers.”
Mr Vaccaro said businesses could then use the hashtag #BuyLocallyQld on Facebook or Twitter posts to highlight their participation.
“There are a range of free promotional materials that can be downloaded by businesses taking part as well,” he said.
“Customers could also win a Samsung Galaxy tablet just by downloading a Buy Locally Saturday Selfie Coin from the State Government website and posting it on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #BuyLocallyQld.”
